GEORGE FLOYD MINNEAPOLIS

May, 2020 - The Associated Press

SEETHING WITH RAGE, protesters engulfed the Twin Cities streets in an eruption of fire and noise. George Floyd, a Black American man, died when Minneapolis Police officer Derek Chauvin knelt on his neck for nearly 9 minutes, 30 seconds during a stop for an alleged petty crime involving a supposed counterfeit $20 bill.

Begging for his life, his pleas for air and cries for his mother recorded on bystanders’ phones rocketed across social media, laying bare the festering rot of racial injustice and oppression poisoning American life since its inception.

A mixture of calcium carbonate is used to reduce, but not relieve, the pain of pepper spray and tear gas.
