COVID-19 | NEW YORK CITY

March-December 2020 - The Associated Press

GHOSTLY FIGURES IN WHITE, their weary faces obscured by masks to prevent contracting COVID-19, piled bodies onto refrigerated trucks as New Yorkers stared in fear from the sidewalks. The medical system was collapsing. Leadership struggled to flatten the data curve of infections and death. Confusion reigned and left citizens unsure of the seriousness of a disease unknown just weeks prior.

New Yorkers rallied against the peak and contained it. Soon, the virus would seek new footholds across the United States.
